Ultramarathon Man & One of the “Top 100 Most Influential People In The World” - TIME Magazine

The story of the world's most famous ultramarathon man started out far from any track, on the night of Karnazes's 30th birthday. Out with friends for drinks, he found an old pair of tennis shoes at the back of the bar, put them on, and ran for 30 miles straight until the sun rose the next morning. In the process, he had a blinding realization that there were untapped reservoirs within him – he was meant to be a long distance runner. Since then he's never stopped.

Karnazes is now an internationally recognized endurance athlete. He “jogs” 20 to 30 miles a day, has been dubbed one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World” by TIME magazine and the “Fittest man on the planet” by Men's Fitness, is an inspiring motivator, and a New York Times best-selling author. He's also achieved some of the world's most amazing feats including running 50 marathons, in all 50 US states, in 50 consecutive days – ending with the New York City Marathon which he ran in three hours flat.
