Michael Mina, Celebrity Chef
Born in Egypt, Mina showed an unrelenting passion for cooking and entrepreneurism at a young age. He began his career as a fry cook for a diner, and more than 20 years later, has now become one of the most decorated chefs of all-time, having cooked for three U.S. presidents, named “Rising Star Chef of the Year 1997” and “Best California Chef 2002” by the James Beard Foundation. Mina currently owns 18 concept restaurants (two of which are Michelin-rated – Michael Mina in San Francisco, and Michael Mina Bellagio in Las Vegas) as a part of the Mina Group, which he started in partnership with Andre Agassi, who was inspired by his food after eating in one of his restaurants.
When he’s not directly reimagining the dining experience with his restaurant group, Mina is heightening the way we experience food through innovative ventures such as Cook Taste Eat, a daily email and website that teaches foodies and home cooks how to make amazing, restaurant quality meals at home. On the weekends, he’s also cheering on the San Francisco 49ers.
