Tour de Cure
Did you know that apart from riding a bike for leisure and exercising, it can be a source of joy for someone? According to American Diabetes Association's Tour De Cure, biking for a cause can have a tremendous impact in the fight against diabetes.
Along with raising their heart rates, riders are asked to raise at least $200 per participant (teams can spread the wealth), money that goes to support diabetes research and advocacy for those affected by the disease. That kind of money may sound like a drop in the bucket, but it amounts to over $26 million in annual donations to Tour De Cure.
Whether riding as an individual or group, different routes accommodate every racer. But don't think that a t-shirt and shorts are de rigueur for this ride; teams often attempt to outdo each other with fanciful costumes that make the event even more fun. So hop on your bike for a cause and pedal your way to becoming a force for positive change.
