Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve Tours
Eco tours at Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve (JRBP) located in the Santa Cruz Mountains close to the campus of Stanford University are amazing educational, geologic, biotic, and topographic experiences. The 1,189 acres provide a nature laboratory for researchers and scientists who come from throughout the world to do their studies. In addition, 165 theses and dissertations have involved research at JRBP, 335 publications have reported research, and students have submitted over 400 papers.
The Preserve also provides a site for important discoveries in answers to fundamental scientific and conservation questions, educational experiences for undergraduates, plays a dominant role in educating the general public such as the eco tours and workshops, and offers refuge to native animals and plants.
Tours are 2 to 2.5 hours of walking on mostly hilly terrain from October 1 through May 31 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In March and April, during the spring wildflower season, tours are scheduled Thursday through Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
