New York City may be the most important city in the state that bears its name, but Buffalo is a major economic center and tourist attraction in its own right. It is home to Golden Gloves Boxing, an organization that uses what it calls sweet science to transform young men and women into champions. The city is also full of stately Victorian houses and other architectural masterpieces, which many visitors come especially to see.
The nonprofit organization Explore Buffalo, a partner of Buffalo Architecture & History, is a place to plan a tour of the city, specifically to see its architectural wonders. Their tours only remain on for so long, and new ones are constantly being arranged, so the interested person should check back regularly at the Explore Buffalo website. Visitors can also sign up for the newsletter to keep up to date on events and tours that are about to be held. It is also possible to volunteer as a docent who leads the tours; Explore Buffalo holds training programs.
