A Grape Escape Balloon Adventure
When the first hot air balloon was built and launched in Paris in 1783, many observers scoffed, "What good is a thing such as this?" In response, Ben Franklin chided them, "What good is a newborn baby?" The truth of his response was proven over the course of many years, with the balloon being adapted for purposes of which even he could not have dreamt. Today, it is being used to take visitors on a tour of the place where they are staying, giving them a view whose magnificence cannot be matched by looking at it from ground level.
Hot Air Tours operates from Temecula, in far southern California. The city is in the midst of wine country. From the air, the vineyards can be seen as huge green patches of vines that stretch for miles in either direction. Only from the air can one see how much Temecula lives up to its name - thought to come from an Indian phrase meaning "sun breaking through mist."
