Secrets of Portlandia
Rain or shine, the Secrets of Portlandia walking tour is held every day at 11am. The tour considers itself traveling stand-up comedy, blending humor and entertainment as guests learn about Portland and its evolution into a cultural capital. Through the approximately 1 hour and 15 minute walk, the tour guide gives travelers both history and ideas of where else in the city to visit.
The distance traveled on foot is approximately one mile, and meets in front of Pioneer Courthouse in the sidewalk of 6th Avenue. The tour explores the downtown, oldtown, Chinatown and Pearl areas as well as the World's Smallest Public Park. Other tour highlights include stories behind the food cart revolution, a visit to Portland's hidden weather machine, history of the World Naked Bike Ride, and Shanghai Tunnel ghost stories. Unlike most city tours, the tour itself is free and requires no reservations to attend, but encourages its patrons to tip the tour guide at the end of the visit.
