Vintage Venice Reel To Real Tours
Films and TV shows such as Charlie Chaplin's "The Circus" and "Starsky and Hutch" captured the diversity of Venice, a city known for its canal systems and ties to the music and movie industries. Vintage Venice Reel to Real walking tours offer visitors the chance to experience Venice in a new way. During the tours, participants watch films and TV programs chronicling the city's past. They'll walk through areas once frequented by Laurel and Hardy, Jim Morrison, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe and the Doors.
The tours give participants a glimpse of a neighborhood with 1920s bungalows and mansions near the canal system; the Craftsman houses of the Abbot Kinney Historic District or the North Ocean Front Walk, an area by the water filled with graffiti artists, performers, surfers and skateboarders. After he moved to the area in 1995 and began to explore Venice, the tour guide compiled film clips from the local area. He shares his extensive knowledge of Venice on every tour.
